Breach of Contract
The most common lawsuits filed involve a claim for breach of contract. This occurs when the parties signed a contract and one of the parties fails to hold up its end of the bargain. The injured party files a lawsuit, seeking recourse against the breaching party, usually in the form of monetary damages. Sometimes the injured party seeks an injunction from the court to stop the breaching party from causing further harm or the injured party may seek an order requiring the breach party to perform a specific action the breaching party agreed to in the contract. Other claims are often filed along with a breach of contract action.
